We took it easy today, taking a 5 mile stroll in the Palisades Interstate Park. The park is only an eighth of a mile wide, and runs between the Palisades Parkway and the Hudson River. The first half of the hike ran along the Palisades cliffs, and the noise of the highway was noticeable. The second half of the hike was along the Hudson, and was accompanied by the soothing sounds of waves crashing on shore.
While not physically challenging, the hike was made interesting by the variety of spring flowers, including wisteria, ruins of old estates, and views of the river. One highlight was a family of young groundhogs, who were not at all afraid of us.
