Jerome

I've been under the weather this last week and haven't had the energy to do much, even scan a layout I did two weeks ago. I'm feeling so much better today, so I'm off to start on some new adventures.

Lune De Miel

It turns out I had yarn the same color as my wedding dress, a soft grey/lavender. I decided to knit a very simple shawl to wear, since April can be chilly. I chose the Lune pattern by Meriam Felton.

Summer Soltice

Another sweater done. It's a beautiful yarn, and a nice pattern, but I'm not thrilled with them together. The yarn is a bit too thin and drapey for the pattern. And even knitting two balls of yarn at once, the variation between the skeins shows. It's also too long for me.

The Blueberry Run

Hiking Minnewaska in early July has become an annual tradition. The beautiful state park located near New Paltz, New York, does not have challenging trails, but its miles of carriage roads and woodland paths are lined with blueberry bushes. The low bush berries ripen in early July, making for a tasty hike. This year, we detoured down to Lake Awosting for a swim.

Solstice Cardigan

The summer solstice recently passed and I am enjoying the long days. It's amazing how daylight can rejuvenate. In honor of the day, I cast on the Solstice Cardigan designed by Cecily Macdonald
for Quince & Co. I am using Sanguine Gryphon's Codex in gangreen. I am just about to finish the hem of the body and pick up the sleeves.

Celebrating the Fourth

I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our nation's anniversary then to head back home to Pennsylvania, where my ancestors fought for independence, then tilled the soil and worked in the mills to help build this country. The remnants of the Bethlehem Steel always remind me of my Pappy, and how hard he worked to take care of his family.

The perfect summer day - hanging in the backyard with friends, eating a burger from the grill:

Watching my friends' families grow:

And the neighbors entertained us with a backyard fireworks display:
