Technical Difficulties

Let's just say, never set down your laptop when you're very, very angry.  And, maybe it's not a good idea to try to take out the hard drive yourself.  While I was never very fond of this computer, it should have had a couple of years left in it. Worse, it had over a year of pictures on it.  Not all are lost.  We backed everything up six months ago when they system got a virus. And I've uploaded several albums onto Picassa or Facebook ... but I'll be kicking myself on this one for awhile.

For every problem, however, there's usually some kind of work around or solution. Last week's set back was the sleeves on my Larch Cardigan.  The first set of sleeves was too tight and too short, so I spent all of last week re-knittng.  Patience paid off, and I got a much better fit.

As of today, I have a completed cardigan. i modified the pattern by placing the buttons on the button band, rather than to the side of the collar. The yarn is Opulence, by the Woolen Rabbit, in the Moroccan Spice colorway.

Learning Patience

I really wanted to title this blog post one of several four-letter words. I'm cursing under my breath as I type. It's 95% done. Body and two sleeve are all knit and blocked. They're sitting on my table waiting for me to sew everything together and add the buttons.

Except. Yes, that's the frustration, there's an except.  Except the sleeves are too small. And small enough that I have to acknowledge it and do something about it.  The design notes that the sleeves are long and narrow, and provides instructions for knitting a size up for more ease.  I ignored that instruction, figuring my blocked gauge left enough ease in the upper arm. I was wrong.  (And I highly recommend to other knitters to read the directions through before beginning and, if you're at all self conscious about your arm, follow this variation of the pattern).

Process, I tell myself. Enjoy the process.  The finished product will bring you more happiness if you do.

MME March Sketch Challenge

While the embellishments, including the tape used to create the striped mat, are from a variety of differrent MME lines, teh papers are primarily Indie Chick. I used off white papers and inked them with several different blues to create the mood I was after.
