Brooklyn Hip

I was completely inspired by Glitter Girl's video tutorial on Two Peas in  Bucket this week (also available on Shimelle.com). There were lots of useful tips on how to create clusters and flow throughout a layout. I normally don't scraplift, but the design she used for a panoramic photo was perfect for the two 4x6 pictures I was planning to scrap next so I went with it:

Stampin Up! papers; Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Faded Blue Jeans); various journaling blocks (MME, October Afternoon, and others); Crate DIY Shop stickers; MME decorative tape; Basic Grey alphabet stickers; Jillibean Soup Corrogated Alphas; KaiserScrapbook pearls.

Blues and Greens are the Colors I Choose

blog post converted into a layout:

Basic Grey Oliver and Clippings and Scenic Route papers; Basic Grey Oliver alphabet stickers; Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Faded Blue Jeans); Fontworks arrow stamp; Recollections washi tape.

And celebrating our one year anniversary:

My Mind's Eye Stella Rose, Penny Lane, and Indie Chic papers; Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Faded Blue Jeans); Recollections washi tape; Heidi Swapp Color Shine (teal); misc. chipboard alphas; Folkart acrylic paint; October Afternoon Mini Market Stickers; Crate DIY Shop sticker; SU "joy" stamp.

Strange Brew

I completed this layout for My Mind's Eye July Sketch Challenge.

My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday, Collectable, and So Sophie papers and decorative tapes; Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Fired Brick); Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist; Stampabilities and Inkadinkado stamps; Sizzix Sunset alphabet die; Basic Grey alphabet stickers.

San Antonio

Inspired by a sketch on Shimelle.com:

Teresa Collins Now & Then collection, altered with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Faded Blue Jeans, Worn Lipstick; Barn Door) and Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Mustard, Tinsel).  Interestingly, the Mustard and Tinsel Color Shine over the raw chipboard American Crafts Thickers made a nice antique gold.

Crushed Woodrose Petals

I have finally knit the beautiful Woolen Rabbit Lucent Glenn got me as a gift a few years ago.  I knit Crushed by Rachel Henry.  It is an easy pattern to read and perfect for a one skein project. I finished with only a gram of yarn left over.

High Energy and Grunge

Not that the two are mutually exclusive.  Especially since I ink just about everything

Dream Street and Scenic Route papers; Sizzix Round-a-Bout dies for the title;  American Crafts Kate rub ons for subtitle; Ransom font for background words; EK Success star punch; Heidi Swapp Color Shine (georgia peach and teal); and My Mind's Eye decorative tape.

Kraft cardstock and Sassafras Lass Life is Beautiful papers; Tim Holtz Idea-ology grungeboard alphas; Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamps; Colorbox black pigment ink; Recollections washi tape.

Kraft cardstock; Studio Calico Classic Calico paper; Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps; Ranger Distress Inks (walnut and black); Heidi Swapp Color Shine (tinsel); Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist; Basic Grey Picadilly alphas.

I tried a Flip Pal scanner and the stitching program worked fairly well. The edges were a bit crocked, so I tried cropping and/or spot healing to fix it up with mixed success.  Overall, it will be a good alternative to photographing layouts.

Scrap Room Remodel

When we first looked at this apartment, I was turned off by the wood-panel built-in bookcase in the front room.  Its redeeming feature was that it was unusually deep.  Deep enough to hold 12x12 scrapbook supplies.  My mind went to work on how to make this room a joint music room/scrap room. I put Glenn's Whisper Room in the corner and then put my old kitchen island up against that, creating a little nook for myself. With my storage towers on either side, all of my supplies were within reaching distance. Lovely. Except for the hideous wood paneling and yellow walls.

I think it was a combination of my scrapping more, which means spending more time in this space, and new homeowner's pride, that may me decide it was time to do something about it. I used the long 4th of July weekend for some serious spackling and painting.

Viola! a new room!
