The Appalachian Trail is 2,181 miles long. Today we hiked 0.1% of that as part of the 5-mile 3 Lakes Loop in Fahnestock State Park. The weather was gorgeous, and there was enough hints of green to let us know that spring was, at long last, here. The heavy rains the week before, however, meant that all of the lakes and the streams we had to cross on our way were all well over their banks. There were several precarious crossings. Glenn made all of them, but I slipped jumping rocks on the last swollen creek we crossed and ended up with a wet foot for the last mile or so. (This is where I praise the glory of wool socks).
