Sea Side Explorations - Hammonaset State Park (Connecticut)

Since it's the last weekend of summer, I felt it was absolutely necessary to get out of the City.  I thought about hiking (which is much overdue), but the weather was hot and humid, so I decided to stick to the coast. It's been ages and ages since I've been to the beach.  Not sure today counts as a beach trip, since we only walked by it as we explored along the coast.

Around and Around

I will admit, I struggled with this triangle paper that came in a recent Studio Calico kit. I have seen some great layouts using a triangle motif in various galleries, and built on some of those ideas here. I don't think I would have been able to use this paper at all until I took this picture of my friend's daughter. The picture really inspired the layout.

Supplies: Paper: Bella Boulevard (Lucky Starz), Studio Calico (Beach Towel); Alphas and Enamel Dots: Studio Calico; Spray Ink: Heidi Swapp (teal, citron); Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (black soot, mowed lawn); Stamp: Heidi Swapp; Ribbon: Mrs. Grossman's; Washi: MME Decorative Tape

48-Hours in Arizona

We just got back from a very quick family visit in Arizona. It would have been nice to stay longer, visit more, and maybe hike a bit, but responsibilities drew us home.

Our first morning, we did get up early and take a short walk up on Mingus Mountain in the Prescott National Forest. It was incredibly beautiful, watching the clouds rise up out of the valley.

And the variety of wildflowers was astounding.

We even saw some wild javelina.

After our walk, we heading into Prescott, where we caught part of the jazz festival.

The next morning we were back on the road down to Phoenix and home.  Even the desert was flowering.
