Hello, Cupcake

Hello, Everyone! and best wishes for a wonderful new year.

It's been awhile since I've been able to scrapbook, but I found using an old sketch I was able to put together a page from a fall outing to the New York Sheep and Wool Festival fairly quickly.

Supplies: Paper: Pebbles (DIY Home), Authentique (Spectrum II), American Crafts (gold glitter); Alphas: October Afternoon (Daily Flash); Frame, Wood Veneer: Crate Paper; Journaling Cards: Pebbles (DIY Home); Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (ground espresso, tattered rose); Dies: The Cut Shoppe , Tim Holtz (tag); Twine: Lawn Fawn

For this layout I've gone back to Sketch No. 7 (a collection of my first 50 sketches can be found here).  While the sketch was originally designed for a scattering of smaller embellishments, I discovered that it also works well using larger elements.

Holiday Cheer

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

I know I'm really behind on posting scrappy goodness and I apologize. The end of the year rush caught up with me, then I got sick and went into a zombie-like state for a couple of weeks. I finally went to the doctor, the meds are kicking in, and I'm starting to come around to my old self again. Just in time for Christmas!  Yeah!

And I even have a Christmas layout for you! This photo is from last year, but the story is almost as old as I am and it was good to finally capture on a layout.  I went to my stash, brining new life to some very old supplies.

Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket (Art Angle, Wanted); Alphas: Dear Lizzy (Desktop); Stencil: The Crafter's Workshop; Punches: Stampin' Up! (scallop circle), EK Success (1-inch circle); Stamp: Technique Tuesday (journaling lines); Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (ground espresso); Paint: Liquitex (gold); Twine: Lawn Fawn; Enamel Dots: Doodlebug

The Best Crew

Hello, everyone.

I've been on a bold stripes kick lately. Rather than use the striped paper as a background, this time I've used it to frame the top and bottom of my page. I've added interest by mixing black and white stripes with coral and white stripes, with a thin strip of black to separate the two and add extra emphasis.

Supplies: Paper: Pebbles (DIY Home); Alphas: Dear Lizzy (Snapshots); Die: Tim Hotlz/Sizzix (rosettes); Ephemera: Crate Paper (Wonder); Enamel Dots: Doodlebug; Stencil: Prima: Ink: Tim Hotlz Distress Ink (black soot); Other: gesso, modeling paste

Hodge Podge

Hello, everyone.  I've been hard at work on my latest knitting project.

I originally planned to knit Abbott by Michele Wang, using Quince & Co. Tern in Stonington.  I was having a very hard time getting a good swatch in the slip stitch she used to create the chevron pattern, so I switched to a garter stitch and liked the result.  Changing the stitch, however, put me too far off gauge to use Michele Wang's pattern. I turned to Amy Herzog's Custom Fit website and designed my own, loose fitting v-neck.

Where Abbott is a boxy sweater with dropped sleeves and reverse stockinet trim, my version is an a-line v-neck with set in sleeves and i-chord trim. The sleeves have a folded hem to give them a bit more structure.  I did, however, keep the beautiful chevron pattern across the body.

Nature's Beauty

Hello, everyone.

I am celebrating fall with layout of a hike I took to Falling Waters Park, located south of Saugerties, New York, along the Hudson River. It was a gorgeous morning, and the trees were at peek color.

I used a mix of papers from my stash, along with Pink Paislee's new Cedar Lane collection.

Supplies: Paper: Pink Paislee (Memorandum, Cedar Lane), Simple Stories (So Fancy); Alphas: Webster's Pages (All That Glitters), American Crafts Thickers (Wildflower); Stickers: Pink Paislee (Cedar Lane); Dies: Die-namics (tags), The Cut Shoppe; Punch: EK Success; Stencil: The Crafter's Workshop; Ink: Tim Holtz (walnut stain, wild honey); Doily: Bo Bunny; Twine: Lawn Fawn
