Love This Life

Single, pretty, and meaningful was the prompt for this month's creative team assignment for Get It Scrapped.  Check out the recent article for single-photo pages here.

I had been holding on to this photograph of me hiking in the Catskills to do a page about my love for exploring, particularly hiking.

Supplies: Paper, Chipboard, Stickers, Rubon: Teresa Collins (9 & Co.); Enamel Dots: Viva Decor Pearl Pen; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (pumice stone); Washi: Little B

The Teresa Collins 9 & Co. line, with the multitude of arrow motifs, seemed a perfect fit.  I show a symmetrical foundation, which I layered on top of, trying to maintain balance in color and weight (although the left side ended up a bit heavier).

This is a companion page for the Storm King layout I posted last week.  After hiking up Storm King Mountain, we went to the Storm King Arts Center and wandered among the sculptures. It's a beautiful place and I look forward to returning some day.

Me at 41

The weekend challenge on the Hip Kit Club's Facebook Group was pretty challenging:  use white on white and a project life format.  I wasn't even planning on doing it, but when I went to bed the first night, my mind started working it out on its own. I got up and began scrapping and this is what I came up with:

Supplies: Papers, Die Cuts and Sentiment Stamps: Kaisercraft (Blue Bay); Alpha Stamps: Technique Tuesday (Wayfarer); Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (pumice stone), Memento (tuxedo black); Spray Ink: Mister Huey's (opaque white); Stencil: The Crafter's Workshop; Dies: Simon Says Stamp, Impression Obsession (feathers), Spellbinders (birds); Die-namics (tag); Little B (flowers); Unknown (leaf flourishes); Punch: EK Success (medium corner rounder); Other: gelatos, modeling paste, buttons, fiber

Knitting Update

After another long delay, I've finally finished another knitting project. This is the Whirlpool Scarf by Anna Sudo. I used Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering in the Gus & Clara color way.

Art Journal Sunday

Another art journal entry inspired by Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday. This week we worked with collage and building texture.

After layering some ephemera, I stamped the butterflies (Stampin Up!) and a textured background (Kaisercraft). I then added texture with modeling paste, both direct to the page and with a stencil (The Crafter's Workshop). I added some additional texture along the center line with a piece of cheesecloth.

Once the textural elements were done, I began to layer color using Golden acrylic paint mixed with a glaze and India inks. For the final stage, I added tags inked with Color Shine (tinsel) and stamped with sentiments from Unity Stamp Co. The flower embellishment is from Crate Paper / Maggie Holmes.

In November I did an outing with Discover Outdoors, hiking up Storm King Mountain in the morning, then exploring the Storm King Arts Center in the afternoon. Storm King Mountain overlooks the Hudson River, so we had some nice views when we reached the top.

Art Journal Sunday

Another art journal page inspired by water. I think the view from my office is sinking into my subconscious. This time, instead of being guided by blue and gold, I was driven by read and gold.

I used Liquitex and Golden paint, along with modeling paste and stencils from The Crafter's Workshop (burst), Tim Holtz (stripes), Donna Downey (birds), and Dina Wakley)

Life is Good Today

Here's one of the layouts I completed at the end of 2014. It captures a day out with friends, laughing at the amount of food we ordered for breakfast on our way to the Scrapbook Expo.  I'm looking forward to hanging with these chicas again this Saturday.
